1. Theodore Roosevelt Center at Dickinson State University
Inside the university at 300 13th Ave W, you will find an impressive collection of all things Teddy Roosevelt, including letters, cartoons, photos, diaries, and scrapbooks. The permanent exhibits explore the different aspects that made our 26th president such an interesting man, like his zest for adventure and his love for his family.
A new gallery coincides with the museum, which will feature routinely rotate between different exhibitions. Currently on display is photography by the TRC’s founder titled The Rough Rider and The Shadow Catcher.
2. Dickinson Museum Center & Badlands Dinosaur Museum
Situated on 12 acres, this cluster of museums at 188 Museum Dr. E will give the whole family something to discuss over lunch. The Badlands Dinosaur Museum mixes fun with play through hands-on activities that explore ongoing scientific research and fieldwork, as well as collections and exhibits. The Badlands boasts the most dinosaur fossils on display in all of North Dakota, with an incredible display of minerals to boot.
For history buffs, the neighboring museums of history include the Joachim Regional Museum, which explores local history through informative exhibits and collections, mini vignettes, and artifacts. Take a trip through Southwestern North Dakota during the age of railroad expansion or the resettlement of immigrants.
3. Ukrainian Cultural Institute
The cultural center at 1221 Villard St W strives to preserve and inform about Ukrainian culture within our great state. Born from descendants of Ukrainian immigrants, this organization empowers the Ukrainian community by lifting their voices and displaying important cultural artifacts.
Visitors can explore the Marie Halun Block Library for information, historic resources, and even cookbooks. Each year they host a Pysanky class that teaches the tradition of Ukrainian Easter egg painting.
4. Fluffly Fields Vineyard and Winery
For a tantalizing taste of the locale, visit 2708 21st St E and sip on locally-made wines and beers. Reserve a private wine tasting, purchase tickets to live entertainment like The British Invasion Tribute, or wine and dine at their in-house restaurant. 5. Patterson Lake Recreation Area
